Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 12: Tawi Trekkers J&K organized a short trek to Devi Pindian near the holy town of Katra, in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism Jammu, on the occasion of International Mountain Day. The 22-member group including 5 girls led by Vivek Chauhan, Principal of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu was flagged off by Neelam Khajuria, Joint Director Tourism Jammu in the presence of Ambika Bali, Assistant Director Tourism. Both the officers also participated in the day long trek. Prominent among the participants included Ram Khajuria, President and senior members of Tawi Trekkers Sumit Khajuria, Sushil Singh, Sonam Sidharth and Manik Slathia. International sport climbers Shivani Charak, Arun Deep and Shilpa Charak and Sanjeev Sharma, executive editor Sportsline were also a part of the group. The trek started from a beautiful forest nursery very well maintained by forest department of Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Panthal, about 7 kms from Katra. Before the start of the trek Vinay Khajuria, Divisional Forest Officer, delivered a lecture on the importance of Mountain Diversity, the Theme of this year's International Mountain Day. Ram Khajuria, President of Tawi Trekkers J&K thanked Neelam Khajuria and Ambika Bali, Joint Director and Assistant Director Tourism Jammu respectively and Vinay Khajuria, Divisional Forest Officer, Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for their collaboration and help in the successful celebration of International Mountain Day. |
