Booth capturing incident raises question mark on security arrangements | Suspension of employees by admin is just eyewash: Locals allege | | RAJESH TANDON EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 17: The attempt of booth capturing incident in Mendhar of district Poonch has raised question mark of security arrangements by the concerned administration as well as the police, which didn’t take prompt action to avert such happening. Sources told Early Times that although after complaints by the contesting candidates with the district administration, six employees were suspended for allowing the workers of a particular party in the booth but the complaints have expressed doubts that suspension of employees seems mere eyewash. They alleged that how is it possible that some people belonging to a certain party can enter such a high security booth area. It clearly indicates that elections employees were involved as well as the local security deployed in there. Sources alleged that the concerned SDM and Tehsildar didn’t take proactive actions to avoid such incidents. Protestors raised slogans against the concerned SHO. “There is involvement of officials of administration and the accused party leaders. Despite the fact that Mendhar had always remained a sensitive area during elections but laxity shown by the police and administration has created a vulnerable situation,” they said. When Early Times contacted the concerned Tehsildar, he said that they are not responsible for the incident. The issue has been created by the leaders of different political parties.
