SRINAGAR, Dec 17: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 385 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 17,317. The death toll reached 1826 with nine deaths taking place in past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 98 fresh cases of COVID-18 followed by Srinagar district 94 cases, Pulwama district 35 cases, Budgam district 24 cases, Baramulla and Bandipora districts 20 cases each, Kupwara district 13 cases, Kathua district 12 cases, Udhampur district 10 cases, Ganderbal and Rajouri districts nine cases each, Shopian and Doda districts eight cases each, Anantnag district seven cases, Ramban district six cases, Samba district five cases, Kulgam district three cases and Kishtwar & Reasi districts two cases each. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths in Srinagar district in the Kashmir valley followed by a death each in Baramulla, Ganderbal, Rajouri and Reasi districts. So far 1,161 people have lost their lives due to the virus in Kashmir valley while 665 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 385 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 152 from Jammu division and 233 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 17,317. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; five from Jammu division and four from Kashmir division. Moreover, 395 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 216 from Jammu division and 179 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 17,317 positive cases, 4,327 are active positive, 1, 11,164 have recovered and 1,826 have died; 665 in Jammu division and 1,161 in Kashmir division. Out of 34, 48,733 test results available, 33, 31,416 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 37,563 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 20,087 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,327 in isolation and 27,414 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 83,909 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,538 positive cases, 1,072 active positive, 23,027 recovered, 439 deaths; Baramulla has 7,793 positive cases, 185 active positive, 7,438 recovered, 170 deaths; Budgam has 7,386 positive cases, 256 active positive, 7025 recovered, 105 deaths; Kupwara has 5,413 positive cases, 175 active positive, 5,150 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 5,359 positive cases, 192 active positive, 5,079 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,693 positive cases, 115 active positive, 4,496 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,584 positive cases, 93 active positive, 4,434 recovered, 57 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,384 positive cases, 111 active positive, 4,231 recovered, 42 deaths; Kulgam has 2,633 positive cases, 62 active positive, 2,518 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,441 positive cases, 75 active positive, 2,329 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 22,568 positive cases, 832 active positive, 21,397 recovered, 339 deaths; Udhampur has 3,992 positive cases, 194 active positive, 3,744 recovered, 54 deaths; Rajouri has 3,748 positive cases, 242 active positive, 3,452 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,323 positive cases, 108 active positive, 3,155 recovered, 60 deaths; Kathua has 3,062 positive cases, 109 active positive, 2,906 recovered, 47 deaths. “Kishtwar has 2,692 positive cases, 101 active positive, 2,570 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,652 positive cases, 189 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 2,424 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,372 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,055 positive cases, 68 active positive, 1,966 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,577 positive cases, 118 active positive, 1,446 recovered, 13 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 17,317 positive cases, 11,053 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
