Union government extends Sabka Vishwas scheme to JK | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: The Central Government has extended the period for availing the Sabka Vishwas (Legacy Dispute Resolution) Scheme to December 31, 2020 for eligible taxpayers from Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. This decision would turn out to be a major relief to taxpayers of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh who faced genuine difficulties in availing the Scheme during the original period of operation and this extension will give trade and industry in the newly formed union territories a fresh opportunity to settle their past tax disputes. H. B. Negi, Commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, Jammu, in a statement, conveyed that the Scheme has been extended only for J&K & Ladakh with the objective of reducing litigation and disputes relating to legacy taxes (central excise) so that taxpayers could focus on the goods and service tax (GST), which was introduced in 2017. He further stated that the scheme would provide taxpayers relief in payment of disputed tax amounts ranging from 70% (of the tax amount) to 40% alongwith full waiver of interest and penalty. The Commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, Jammu also informed that the extension of aforesaid Sabka Vishwas Scheme -2019 is being widely publicized by way of sending bulk-emails/SMS to the taxpayers. He advised all the taxpayers to not to miss out this second opportunity, which might also be the last one, of availing the Scheme. The taxpayers are advised to visit the Commissionerate's website ccejk.nic.in twitter handle @CgstJammu for regular updates from this office and to approach their jurisdictional ranges/ divisions in case of any difficulty and assured that full cooperation and assistance shall be provided to the willing taxpayers by the department. |
