JAMMU, Dec 18: After a massive turn out witnessed in the last 7 phases of the ongoing DDC polls in Kishtwar District, two constituencies of DDC in Kishtwar District viz Kishtwar and Trigam are scheduled to go for poll tomorrow as Gupkar alliance partners National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party along with BJP are fighting against each other in a triangular fight.
The cracks in the Gupkar Alliance first emerged from Kishtwar District wherein both PDP and NC fielded candidates against each other.
After failing to reach out on consensus over seat sharing in Kishtwar District, PDP fielded its District President of Kishtwar, Sheikh Nasir Hussain from Kishtwar DDC constituency while National Conference fielded business tycoon Zakir Hussain Butt who has direct fight against BJP leader Sunil Sharma’s close aide Raj Kumar Shan in one on one battle.
Apni party has fielded Abdul Latief Sheikh, who is close confidant of former PDP MLC Syed Asgar Ali, who from PDP switched over to NC and finally landed in Apni Party formed by Altaf Bukhari.
9 candidates are in fray for Kishtwar DDC constituency while 3 candidates are contesting from Trigam DDC constituency.
Besides by-election for 2 vacant Sarpanch seats in Kishtwar and 1 vacant Sarpanch seat in Trigam is also going to be held tomorrow. 6 candidates are in fray for Matta B Kishtwar, besides 3 candidates for Puchhal A and 2 candidates for Trigam vacant Sarpanch seat are in fray.
In this phase a total of 15779 voters are registered for Kishtwar DDC constituency and a total of 6582 voters are registered for Trigam DDC Constituency.
Meanwhile, for the successful conduct of the last phase of the District Development Council/Panchayat by-election which is going to be held on 19-12-2020, District administration under the supervision of District Panchayat Election Officer Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today dispatched 48 polling parties to their respective polling stations of DDC constituencies of Kishtwar and Trigam.
The 48 polling parties which were dispatched amid tight security and other logistics arrangements included 32 parties for Kishtwar and 16 polling parties for Trigam DDC constituency. DPEO Kishtwar informed that the administration has made all the necessary security and logistics arrangements to ensure-free, fair and transparent polling.
