SRINAGAR, Dec 27: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 260 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases of the virus reached 1, 20,137. With two deaths being reported in past 24 hours the death toll reached 1869. Jammu district reported 93 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 69 cases, Kathua district 18 cases, Budgam district 15 cases, Baramulla district 12 cases, Rajouri district eight cases, Bandipora and Samba districts seven cases each, Shopian and Doda districts five cases each, Kupwara, Pulwama and Udhampur districts four cases each, Anantnag district three cases, Ramban district two cases and Reasi district one case. Srinagar district in Kashmir valley and Jammu district in Jammu division each reported a fresh Corona Virus death in past 24 hours. So far 1,178 people have lost their lives to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 691 people have died due to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 260 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 141 from Jammu division and 119 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 20,137. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division. Moreover, 264 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 95 from Jammu division and 169 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 20,137 positive cases, 3,282 are active positive, 1, 14,986 have recovered and 1,869 have died; 691 in Jammu division and 1,178 in Kashmir division. Out of 37, 16,877 test results available, 35, 96,740 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 69,441 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,430 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,282 in isolation and 29,890 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 18,970 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,114 positive cases, 535 active positive, 24,133 recovered, 446 deaths; Baramulla has 7,916 positive cases, 132 active positive, 7,613 recovered, 171deaths; Budgam has 7,555 positive cases, 171 active positive, 7,277 recovered, 107 deaths; Pulwama has 5,502 positive cases, 177 active positive, 5,237 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,499 positive cases, 135 active positive, 5,274 recovered, 90 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,765 positive cases, 107 active positive, 4,575 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,633 positive cases, 78 active positive, 4,495 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,452 positive cases, 106 active positive, 4303recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,655 positive cases, 70 active positive, 2,532 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,488 positive cases, 104 active positive, 2,347 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,528 positive cases, 899 active positive, 22,276 recovered, 353 deaths; Udhampur has 4,068 positive cases, 80 active positive, 3,931 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,827 positive cases, 207 active positive, 3,566 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,377 positive cases, 66 active positive, 3,249 recovered, 62 deaths; Kathua has 3,166 positive cases, 62 active positive, 3,056 recovered, 48 deaths. “Samba has 2,720 positive cases, 220 active positive, 2,462 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,717 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,667 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,439 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,391 recovered, 23 deaths; Ramban has 2,094 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,043 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,622 positive cases, 49 active positive, 1,559 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 20,137 positive cases, 11,245 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
