Ashes of ex MP Madan Lal Sharma Immersed in Chenab at Jia Potta Ghat Akhnoor

Akhnoor, Dec 28: Hundreds of people from all over Jammu and Kashmir on Monday paid homage to Ex Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma as his “Asthi Kalash” was immersed in the Chenab river at Jia Pota Ghat Akhnoor.
Late Madan Lal Sharma's son Satish Sharma immersed his ashes in Chenab river at Jia Pota Ghat in Akhnoor. Sham Lal Sharma Ex Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President Jammu and Kashmir who is younger brother of Late Sh. Madan Lal Sharma and all other family members were present at the time of immersion. BJP Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP EX MLA from Chamb Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat along with dozens of dignitaries from various political parties paid floral tributes to the Ex Member Parliament.
Rakesh Malhotra Councilor MC Akhnoor said another chapter had been added to the history of Chenab and Jia Potta Ghat with the immersion of ‘Asthi Kalash. Madan Lal was a great leader and personality, he said. It was his wish that his ashes should be immersed in Chenab and today on Jia Pota Ghat (which was built by him) his ashes were immersed by his family members with all rituals and rites.
Tilak Raj Gupta a senior citizen of Akhnoor said death of Madan Lal Sharma is a great loss to the whole J&K. He said Late Sh. Madan Lal Sharma was a mass leader and beloved of all. He was the voice of the poor.
Tilak Gupta said Border Reservation, Bridges on Chenab, Jia Pota Ghat and thousands others were his gifts to the people of Jammu Poonch. Sarpanches, Panches, Municipal Councilors and hundreds of people across party lines were present.
