Jammu, Dec 28: Inquiry ordered by Block Development Officer (BDO), Budhal (old) in district Rajouri has proved to be an eyewash as no further action has been taken. The BDO sought explanation from the staff of the concerned Panchayat of the block, following a story carried by Early Times that the duplication of same work in Parori panchayat of the block by some officials.
“BDO Budhal (old), vide no. BDOK/MISC/2020-21/467-73, dated 09/09/2020 sought explanation on the basis of news report from the concerned staff including MPW, GRS, JE and TA of Panchayat halqa Prori”, sources said adding that they (concerned officials) were directed for immediate point wise reply into the allegations.
“Detail of correct nomenclature of the work along with the location of work against which the complaint is made. Whether any such work is executed by the RDD or duplication of work exists. If yes put-up the AAA authority and estimation along the photographs of the work. Whether any payment of the said work is made as mentioned in the news. If yes, detail of payment made and under which scheme. As such you are directed to submit detail report along with relevant document by today, i.e., 09/09/2020 failing which action warranted under rule shall be initiated against you without further notice”, the copy of notice served upon the officials read.
“Under, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), payment for the same work was released thrice under schemes for a bathroom. For his work payments under SBM, CDF and 14th FC have been released thrice by the officials of concerned block causing huge loss to public exchequer”, said a local leader, wishing not to be named.
He further said that the officials have also drained huge public money for construction of water harvesting tanks (WHTs) in the block. “Showing already constructed septic tanks of few individuals, as WHTs the officials have fetched huge money”, the leader said, adding that without fearing repercussions malpractices, the RDD officials clicked photographs of septic tanks and submitted them in block office for release of payment. Nothing wrong found in the reply submitted by the field staff”, BDO, Budhal (Old), Salam Din, adding that a visit would be done soon to crosscheck the allegations. “Due to COVID, subsequent DDC polls, I was not able to visit the works in question, soon I will visit the site”, he added.
