SRINAGAR, Dec 28: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 156 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 20,293. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,875 following six fresh deaths. Jammu district reported 56 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 34 cases, Kupwara district 14 cases, Budgam district 12 cases, Baramulla and Pulwama districts eight cases each, Kathua district five cases, Anantnag, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts four cases each, Udhampur district three cases, Samba district two cases and Kulgam & Shopian district one case each. Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara and Shopian districts in Kashmir valley and Jammu district in Jammu division each reported a fresh COVID-19 death. So far 1,183 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir while in Jammu division 692 such deaths have taken place up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 156 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 66 from Jammu division and 90 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 20,293. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and five from Kashmir division. Moreover, 275 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 155 from Jammu division and 120 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 20,293 positive cases, 3,157 are active positive, 1, 15,261 have recovered and 1,875 have died; 692 in Jammu division and 1,183 in Kashmir division. Out of 37, 39,623 test results available, 36, 19,330 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 72,900 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,697 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,157 in isolation and 29,925 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 22,246 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,147 positive cases, 522 active positive, 24,178 recovered, 447 deaths; Baramulla has 7,925 positive cases, 130 active positive, 7,623 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,567 positive cases, 166 active positive, 7,293 recovered, 108 deaths; Kupwara has 5,513 positive cases, 137 active positive, 5,285 recovered, 91 deaths; Pulwama has 5,510 positive cases, 185 active positive, 5,237 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,769 positive cases, 105 active positive, 4,581 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,637 positive cases, 62 active positive, 4515 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,456 positive cases, 110 active positive, 4,303 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,656 positive cases, 69 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,489 positive cases, 94 active positive, 2,357 recovered, 38 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,584 positive cases, 869 active positive, 22,361 recovered, 354 deaths; Udhampur has 4,071 positive cases, 83 active positive, 3931 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,827 positive cases, 195 active positive, 3,578 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,377 positive cases, 66 active positive, 3,249 recovered, 62 deaths; Kathua has 3,171 positive cases, 59 active positive, 3064 recovered, 48 deaths. “Samba has 2,722 positive cases, 174 active positive, 2510 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,717 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,667 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,439 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,393 recovered, 23 deaths; Ramban has 2,094 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2043 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,622 positive cases, 49 active positive cases, 1,559 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 20,293 positive cases in J&K, 11,255 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
