| GDC Vijaypur organizes guest lecture on Career planning | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized an online guest lecture on the topic “Career Planning”.
Dr. R.D Sharma, formerly Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu; Vice Chancellor, Noida International University; Chairman, J&K BOPEE and Fulbright Visiting Professor, USA was the resource person.
He emphasized that, “Career planning generally involves getting to know who you are, what you want, and how to get there. Always keep in mind that career planning is a continuous process that allows you to move from one stage to another stage as your life changes. You may even find yourself going back to look at who you are again after exploring how to get there.
In order to plan your career, you need to have an idea of what constitutes career success. Career planning has four components: 1) Self Assessment 2) Career Exploration 3) Career Identification and 4) Action Plan. If you’re driven, you can easily go through these steps on your own or you have the option of working with career development counselor, who will help facilitate the career planning process”.
He further added that, “whether you go at it on your own or work with a career development professional, the thought and energy you put into the process will determine how successful you are”.
Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing his expertise and experience.
The whole event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Ruchi (HOD, Sociology) and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (HOD, Education).
