Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 4: A day after the allegations of the custodial death of a truck driver, who was allegedly transporting bovine animals, appeared in the media, SSP Kathua Shailendra Mishra said that he met with the victim's family today and assured them transparent investigation into the case. "Inquest under section 174 has been initiated into the case", Mishra told media persons this morning and added that videography of post-mortem was also done to avoid any kind of doubts. "The post-mortem was conducted in presence of a magistrate. Initially, no marks of custodial torture as being claimed, were found on the body", he said, and added medical report would be a tool to reach at any conclusion into the case, as it would reveal exact cause and time of the death. "Though investigation has begun, if the report hints something fishy, case against the Police officials in question, under relevant section of law would be registered", he said, adding that call records and locations of mobile phones used by alleged Police officials and deceased were also being collected. Family members and the relatives of the victim after meeting with SSP Kathua said that they were satisfied with what they have been assured by the District Police Chief. However, they (family members) avoided questions, whether the deceased was transporting bovine or not. |
