SRINAGAR, Jan 4: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 133 new cases of Corona Virus today following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 21,786. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,891 as five deaths were reported in the past 24 hours or so. Jammu district reported 37 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 29 cases, Kupwara district 21 cases, Poonch district 10 cases, Baramulla and Budgam districts seven cases each, Bandipora district four cases, Kathua & Samba districts three cases each, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Shopian and Kishtwar districts two cases each and Pulwama, Rajouri, Ramban & Udhampur districts one case each. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported two fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Budgam, Ganderbal and Shopian districts in Kashmir valley. So far 1,190 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 701 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 133 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 58 from Jammu division and 75 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 21,786. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported, two from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division. Moreover, 419 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 278 from Jammu division and 141 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 21,786 positive cases, 2,684 are active positive, 1, 17,211 have recovered and 1,891 have died; 701 in Jammu division and 1,190 in Kashmir division. Out of 39, 43,822 test results available, 38, 22,036 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 9, 04,156 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 16,963 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,684 in isolation and 33,691 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 48,927 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,482 positive cases, 537 active positive, 24,495 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 8,004 positive cases, 120 active positive, 7,712 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,644 positive cases, 108 active positive, 7,426 recovered, 110 deaths; Pulwama has 5,600 positive cases, 151 active positive, 5,361 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,571 positive cases, 123 active positive, 5,357 recovered, 91 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,823 positive cases, 108 active positive, 4,632 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,660 positive cases, 58 active positive, 4,542 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,500 positive cases, 81 active positive, 4,375 recovered, 44 deaths; Kulgam has 2,666 positive cases, 57 active positive, 2,556 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,524 positive cases, 107 active positive, 2,378 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,058 positive cases, 677 active positive, 23,024 recovered, 357 deaths; Udhampur has 4,096 positive cases, 52 active positive, 3,987 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,846 positive cases, 128 active positive, 3,664 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,398 positive cases, 45 active positive, 3,289 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,214 positive cases, 42 active positive, 3,213 recovered, 49 deaths. “Samba has 2,775 positive cases, 202 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 39 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,722 positive cases, 13 active positive, 2,688 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,462 positive cases, 41 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,113 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,070 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,628 positive cases, 12 active positive, 1,601 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 21,786 positive cases in J&K, 11,328 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
