NC indecisive over seeking PDP’s support to form DDCs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: While the National Conference (NC) has wasted no time in approaching Congress to capture District Development Council of Ramban district, party leadership is hesitating to take support of its arch rival PDP in Kashmir Valley. In Ramban district NC has secured six seats and Congress two and three each by Independents and BJP. As the NC has sought support from the Congress the latter offered unconditional support to the former to capture the DDC. After capturing Ramban, both the parties will form DDC in Kishtwar district where NC has won six seats and Congress three. Reliable sources said that the PDP is the only competitor of the NC in Kashmir Valley so party workers at the ground level are opposing formation of joint DDCs in different districts of Kashmir Valley. “Instead of seeking support from PDP to capture Kashmir based DDCs, NC leadership will try to rope in Independents to gain majority”, sources said and added that NC workers at the ground level are of the view that forming alliance with PDP would prove disastrous for the party in coming days. Reliable sources members of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) NC and PDP fought elections against each other in many seats of DDCs in Kashmir Valley. As both the parties fought each other on many seats, workers at the ground level are not ready to support the alliance. |
