SRINAGAR, Jan 5: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir reached 96.31 percent after 215 more virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. The positive cases of the virus reached 1, 21,923 as 137 new cases of virus were reported today; the death toll reached 1897 following six fresh deaths. Jammu district reported 49 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 22 cases, Pulwama district 18 cases, Ganderbal district 11 cases, Udhampur district seven cases, Baramulla, Anantnag and Kathua districts five cases each, Doda district four cases, Kupwara, Bandipora, Kishtwar, Samba and Poonch districts two cases each and Budgam district one case. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported four fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by a death each in Kishtwar district in Jammu division and Kupwara district in Kashmir valley. So far 1,191 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 706 up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 137 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 71 from Jammu division and 66 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 21,923. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported, five from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division. Moreover, 215 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 105 from Jammu division and 110 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 21,923 positive cases, 2,600 are active positive, 1, 17,426 have recovered and 1,897 have died; 706 in Jammu division and 1,191 in Kashmir division. Out of 39, 70,242 test results available, 38, 48,319 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 9, 12,194 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 14,992 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,600 in isolation and 33,783 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 58,922 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,503 positive cases, 497 active positive, 24,556 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 8,009 positive cases, 110 active positive, 7,727 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,646 positive cases, 103 active positive, 7,433 recovered, 110 deaths; Pulwama has 5,618 positive cases, 169 active positive, 5,361 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,573 positive cases, 111 active positive, 5,370 recovered, 92 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,828 positive cases, 106 active positive, 4,639 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,662 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,549 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,511 positive cases, 92 active positive, 4,375 recovered, 44 deaths; Kulgam has 2,666 positive cases, 57 active positive, 2,556 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,524 positive cases, 107 active positive, 2,378 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,107 positive cases, 654 active positive, 23,092 recovered, 361 deaths; Udhampur has 4,103 positive cases, 49 active positive, 3,997 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,846 positive cases, 116 active positive, 3,676 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,402 positive cases, 45 active positive, 3,293 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,219 positive cases, 43 active positive, 3,127 recovered, 49 deaths. “Samba has 2,777 positive cases, 204 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 39 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,724 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,688 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,462 positive cases, 34 active positive, 2,404 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,115 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,070 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,628 positive cases, 12 active positive, 1,601 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 21,923 positive cases in J&K, 11,331 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
