Sajjad Lone under pressure to come out of PAGD
1/10/2021 11:32:03 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 10: Chairman of the Peoples’ Conference (PC) Sajjad Lone is facing intense pressure from senior leaders of his party to come out of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) to protect the identity of his own party.
Reliable sources within PC told Early Times that it was all due to pressure from senior leaders that Sajjad Lone has become inactive in activities of PAGD. Sajjad Lone was appointed as spokesperson of PAGD and earlier he used to brief media persons.
“After declaration of the results of the DDCs elections on December 22, Sajjad Lone has not issued any statement nor addressed media as spokesperson of the PAGD”, a source said.
Sources said that local leadership of NC and PDP made every effort to ensure defeat of PC candidates who were contesting election as PAGD candidates from the quota of the party. “Some PC candidates had lost DDCs elections due to proxy candidates fielded by NC and PDP in their respective seats”, sources said and added that both NC and PDP leadership had given freehand to their local leaders to take every step to ensure defeat of PC candidates.
Two senior leaders of the PC including Imran Ansari, ex-minister and Abdul Gani Valik, ex-minister have already expressed their anger in public against the attitude of other constituents of PAGD during the just concluded DDCs elections.
Imran Ansari has written to his party chief Sajad Lone for reconsidering the trust he has shown in the PAGD.
Ansari wrote in a letter said, “I am writing to you in reference to the recent statements made by Abdul Gani Vakil. From the outset, I will strongly urge you to take this letter of mine in the proper spirit and not in any manner think that this is a letter challenging your decisions and authority in the party. It does not mean that we are against the spirit of PAGD or the objectives of the PAGD. But in wake of the deceitful behaviour shown by our allies by fielding proxy candidates in almost all DDC constituencies, we need to seriously think whether PAGD collectively possesses the sincerity that the people of J&K deserve.”.
