32nd National Road Safety month commences across Samba district | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Jan 18: Deputy Commissioner Samba Rohit Khajuria along with Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sharma today inaugurated month long Road Safety awareness programme from Government Degree College (GDC) Samba. The Deputy Commissioner speaking on occasion said that enforcement of traffic regulations and awareness regarding road safety measures is essential for preventing road accidents. Highlighting the importance of National Road Safety Week, DC Samba said that road transport accidents are preventable and it is very much important that awareness programmes are organized with active involvement of youth and school children to prevent such accidents. Later the Deputy Commissioner Samba Rohit Khajuria and SSP Rajesh Sharma flagged off a Walkathon (Walk for Awareness) regarding Road Safety measures in which GDC Samba students, NCC cadets and other general public from both private and Government institutions participated. Speaking on the occasion, ARTO, Transport Department, Rehana Tabassum said that lack of awareness and over speeding are the main causes of accidents. She said that due to this road safety month the public will benefit to a large extent as different programmes will be held over a week like health checkups for drivers, distribution of pamphlets, walkathon, blood donation camps etc to sensitize the public about Road Safety measures. Additional Deputy Commissioner Suram Chand, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jitender Mishra besides other district officers, Principal and staff of GDC Samba and general public in large numbers were also present. |
