Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel: DPR approval still under process, reveals RTI | | | Early Times Report jammu, Jan 18: The approval of Detail Project Report (DPR) of the prestigious Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel to connect Kishtwar District with Srinagar is still under process, a RTI has revealed. The General Manager (T) National Highways and Infrastructural Development Corporation limited (NHIDCL) in a reply dated 27-10-2020 to RTI filled by Advocate Faheem Shokat Butt has stated that the DPR has been prepared by M/S TRF Getinsa Eurostudious as S.L in association with Rodic Consultant Private Limited and the approval of DPR is under progress. In response to a question whether the tunnel is approved for construction, the reply is "proposal is in DPR stage." In response to the question on delay in execution of the tunnel, NHIDCL in its reply stated that "project is yet to be sanctioned" while the reply is also same on the question related to the sanction of funds for the budgetary provisions or any other provisions by the government of India for the construction of said tunnel. It's in place to mention here that Union Minister for Roads and Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had announced on 15-10-2020 that estimated cost of construction of Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel is Rs 5400 crore. |
