| Authorities choose blue eyed for FRCs in Sathra block | | | rajesh tandon

POONCH, Jan 18: Although the Union Government implemented Forest Right Act 2006 in Jammu and Kashmir to support all who are depending on forest land, and issued direction to constitute Forest Right Committees (FRCs) on Panchayat level but there is huge fraud in framing of these Committees in Sathra block. People from Salonia, Dhara and Fatehpur Panchayat have accused concerned authorities especially Block Development Officer Sathra and concerned VLWs for choosing some well-wishers of Sarpances and blue eyed persons.
Shabir Ahmed, a resident of Sathra said, they have filed their objection against the committee but no action has been taken till now. People from Salonia have also moved a resolution for amendment in the committee but no action has been initiated.
Khalida Choudhary in this regard said, "VLWs have chosen some blue eyed members and well-wishers of Sarpanchs whereas educated and youth persons have been ignored." Block Development Officer Sathra, who remained absent from his office is negligent and have no communication with public, locals alleged. Locals have further said, "Committees in Sathra block are not framed according to Act." They demanded amendments in committees.
When tried to contact the BDO he didn't respond. However, District Panchayat Officer Israr Ahmed in his official comment assured strict action will be taken into the matter. |
