Court rejects bail in NDPS case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 18: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Kishore Kumar rejected the bail application Abdul Majid Bhat allegedly involved in charas smuggling case. The allegations against the petitioner are that he is facing trial in FIR No 90/2019 for the commission of offence under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act. Co-accused namely Mohd Qasim was intercepted while driving his car bearing registration No DL4CND/7336. On search of the car by the police, 24 Kg of charas was found hidden by him in three bags in the car. Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Kishore Kumar after hearing both the sides observed that Keeping in view the enactment of the NDPS Act is to curb the ever increasing menace of drug peddling and illegal possession, sale and its ramification on the society and the youth in particular and cause for increase in the crime rate, nature and seriousness of accusation against the applicant, the character of evidence, circumstances which are peculiar to the accused, the larger interest of the society and State, I am of the view that no good ground is made out by the petitioner for enlarging him on bail.
