Infighting: Leaders not allowing elected DDC member to join BJP | | | early times report jammu, Jan 22: Due to pressure from an influential lobby the incumbent BJP leadership in J&K is not allowing a newly elected member of the District Development Council (DDC) to join the party. The DDC, who has won election as an independent candidate, is ready to join the party but a lobby is opposing his entry. Reliable sources said that after being denied party mandate the said DDC member had contested election as Independent candidate from a constituency of Jammu district. Due to his popularity and peoples' anger against denying mandate to him the said member has comfortably won the election by defeating candidates of all mainstream parties. "The elected DDC member is a dedicated BJP member associated with the party since long. Within days after winning the election he expressed his desire to join BJP but his entry into the party is being sabotaged by a lobby", sources said, adding, "the incumbent BJP leadership finding it difficult to counter pressure of the influential lobby so entry of this DDC member is delayed with one or other excuse". Sources said that it was all due to dirty politics within the party that mandate was denied to the same candidate despite the fact that Mandal Committee of BJP had recommended his name as party candidate from the constituency. "A lobby within the party is working overtime to sideline all mass base leaders in BJP to tighten grip over the party", sources said and added that this lobby was solely responsible for wrong distribution of mandate in the DDC elections resulting into defeat of the party on some seats. |
