DC Kathua reviews progress of works under BADP

KATHUA, Feb 16: District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Om Prakash today reviewed the physical and financial progress of the development works under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) in the district, here at a meeting of the concerned officers.
The DDC inquired about the physical status of the ongoing works, number of schemes completed and headways achieved so far in the current fiscal.
It was informed in the meeting that projects taken up by Jal Shakti, Irrigation, PWD and Horticulture will be completed before the end of February month.
The DDC asked the stakeholder departments to make all out efforts to complete the targeted works before 31st March by adhering to the BADP guidelines and proper utilization of funds. He directed the officers to keep check on the quality of works so as to create productive assets in the border villages for benefit of the people.
Regarding Skill Development component of BADP plan, the DDC was informed that Skill Development opportunities were given in trades like Cutting Tailoring, Plumber, Computer courses, Beauty Parlour and Basohli Paitings etc to the border youth.
Threadbare discussions were held while reviewing the progress of schemes of different departments including Employment, Social Welfare, Transport and Rural Development.
ARTO, ACD, XEN Irrigation, XEN Jal Shakti, XEN PWD, CHO, AD Employment, AD Handicrafts and other concerned attended the meeting.
