Recruitment process in JKSSB goes at snail’s pace | 10 years on, Board fails to complete recruitment for 279 posts in Forest department | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 16: Amid vast unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, the slow pace of recruitment process is another reason of frustration among the youth. Aspirants for over 279 posts in Forest Department have been waiting for the last over one decade but recruitment process is yet to be completed by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB). Aspirants informed Early Times that the JKSSB vide advertisement notice number 08 of 2010 dated 24-12-2010 had advertised posts of State and Divisional Cadre. Out of these posts, a total of 279 posts were in the Forest Department in Jammu as well as Kashmir division. Among these posts 139 posts of Foresters were for Kashmir Division while 16 posts were of Inspectors in Forest Protection Force (FPF) while for Jammu division there were 85 posts of Foresters and 39 posts of Inspectors in FPF. The JKSSB took three years to initiate the process of Walk-Test, and published date sheet for Walk-test from 11-25/3/2013 and had directed all the eligible candidates who had qualified the height measurement to appear in the Walk-test of 25 kilometres for male and 14 kilometres for female. However in the meantime, some candidates raised objections and secured stay from the Court and the recruitment process remained on hold for the last over seven years. “The JKSSB authorities failed to pursue the case properly and it took over six years to get the stay vacated”, an aspirant said, adding that many of those who had filled forms in the year 2010, have already crossed the upper-age limit and though they could appear for the tests but it would be difficult for over-age candidates to qualify the walk-test. “Is it the fault of the candidates or the SSB, which failed to get the recruitment process complete in scheduled time? How the agencies like UPSC have been able to complete the recruitment process in time and even there are minimum possibilities that UPSC will be dragged in the court cases. It speaks of the professional approach of the recruitment agency like UPSC but same professionalism is absent in recruitment agencies in J&K”, the aspirants alleged, adding that the stay was vacated in September 2020, but since then there was no further notification about the recruitment process. The aspirants further said that the Lieutenant Governor led administration should take cognizance of the matter and direct the JKSSB to speed up the process and complete it without any further delay. “We had talked to JKSSB Chairman in the month of October 2020, and he had assured us that the process would be completed soon but so far there is no notification”, the aspirants said. Secretary JKSSB, Sachin Jamwal said that the delay was due to the court stay on the recruitment process as some aspirants had knocked the door of the court. The stay was vacated a few months back and the JKSSB authorities are working to complete the recruitment process. |
