JAMMU, Feb 16: To create awareness about the importance of mother tongue and cultural diversity Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneer trekking club of J&K, shall organize a short trek to Dhergarh Fort and Mansar lake on the occasion of International Mother Language Day on 21st February, 2021. During the trek 76 years old Prof Lalit Magotra, advisor of the club and President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu shall interact with the participants on “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society” the theme of this year’s International Mother Language Day. The group of about 45 trekkers shall be led by a senior trekker Sonam Sidharth who recently conducted a reconnaissance of this route. The group comprising mostly students shall also include former MLA Ashwani Sharma; President of the Club Ram Khajuria (71 years); Principal of Oriental Academy Sr. Secondary School, Jammu Vivek Chauhan (59 yrs), Director Agriculture, Bal Krishan Sharma; Managing editor, Sportsline Sanjiv Sharma; Vice President of Mountaineering Association of J&K Sumit Khajuria and senior trekkers Sushil Singh, Shashi Kant Sharma, Manik Slathia, Vishali Sharma and international sport climbers, Shivani Charak, Shilpa Charak and Arun Deep Singh. The 11 km trek shall start from the bank of Devak rivulet, at the end of village Sarain, 4kms from Nud on Samba- Mansar road and culminate at Mansar lake after passing through Dhergarh fort. The trek is unique as it involves 4 km of beach trekking (wet sands), about 2 kms of mild ascent to Dhergarh fort and finally an enjoyable 5 km trek to Mansar lake through calm and cool dense forest. |
