JEHANGIR RASHID Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 18: After a brief lull COVID-19 deaths were yet again reported in Kashmir valley as three more people fell prey to the virus in the past 24 hours. Jammu & Kashmir reported 87 new cases of virus following which the number of positive cases reached 1, 25,634. Srinagar district reported 48 cases including 34 travelers, Jammu district 11 cases, Budgam district 10 cases, Baramulla and Pulwama districts six cases each, Bandipora district three cases, Shopian district two cases and Anantnag district one case. No case was reported from Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts. Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama districts in the Kashmir valley each reported a fresh Corona Virus death with no death being reported from Jammu division. So far 1,229 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 725 virus related deaths have been reported up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 87 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 11 from Jammu division and 76 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 25,634. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 53 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 19 from Jammu division and 34 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 25,634 positive cases, 688 are active positive, 1, 22,992 have recovered and 1,954 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1229 in Kashmir division. Out of 49, 42,425 test results available, 48, 16,791 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 40,119 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,871 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 688 in isolation and 1, 08,445 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 95,161 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,687 positive cases, 302 active positive, 25,924 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,173 positive cases, 38 active positive, 7,960 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,845 positive cases, 42 active positive, 7,684 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,809 positive cases, 40 active positive, 5,680 recovered, 89 deaths; Kupwara has 5,672 positive cases, five active positive, 5,571 recovered, 96 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,974 positive cases, 38 active positive, 4,850 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,708 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4,630 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,660 positive cases, 31 active positive, 4,582 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,712 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,647 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,592 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,533 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,127 positive cases, 93 active positive, 24,661 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,241 positive cases, 23 active positive, 4,161 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,873 positive cases, four active positive, 3,814 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,436 positive cases, three active positive, 3,369 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,835 positive cases, five active positive, 2,790 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,733 positive cases, one active positive, 2,710 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,479 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 25,634 positive cases in J&K, 12,057 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
