JAMMU, Mar 3: Govt Degree College (GDC) Khour organized a guest lecture on eve of World Wildlife Day today. The theme of the day for this year was “Forest and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”. The invited resource person on this occasion was biodiversity expert Om Parkash Sharma popularly known as Vidyarathi, who delivered lecture on the biodiversity and rare and endangered taxa of state. Resource person also talked in detail about PBR and BMC. The expert stressed upon preservation of local flora and fauna. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Prof Hans Raj, who laid stress upon values of forest and conservation of wildlife. Students of Sem 1st & 3rd participated in the event. Among the staff members Prof Tarsem Lal, Dr Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Prof Arun Sharma and Dr Deepti Gupta were present on the occasion. The program finally concluded with vote of thanks by HOD Environmental Sciences Prof Dalip Dutta.
