JKPCC Contractors Association delegation calls on Advisor, discusses several issues | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 3: To discuss various issues pertaining to the entire contractors' fraternity of J&K, a delegation of JKPCC Contractors Association, J&K led by its president Rakesh Jalali called on LG's Advisor, RR Bhatnagar, in his office chamber at Civil Secretariat, Jammu. During the meeting, Rakesh Jalali raised several issues including most important and grave issue of over delayed payments of contractors, who were awarded the contracts on the bases of e-tender & nomination works (Departmental works) for the last about two or more years. All the issues were discussed threadbare with Advisor more importantly, the issue of held up payments of the contractors, who have borrowed loans from the banking & non-banking institutions & paying heavy rate of interest in return besides paying the GST from their (Contractors) own pockets in advance against the already stuck up payments. It was also brought to the knowledge of Advisor that JKPCC is still inviting tenders despite the fact it doesn't have the sufficient budget in its kitty to clear off the old liability. It (JKPCC) must immediately refrain itself from inviting tenders unless the old dues are cleared. Moreover, it has also stopped the age old practice of inviting the bidding from the piece workers (Sub-contractors) for last few months thus hitting badly the livelihood of around 2000 piece workers of J&K. Advisor gave a patient hearing on all the issues and assured the delegation of early redressal of their issues. The delegation of contractors was also accompanied by Sunil Sahib, General Secretary and Mohinder Singh Kohli, office secretary.
