Administration seizes commercial establishments in Sidhra area | Owners express resentment, terms action as injustice | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 13: The Jammu district administration today carried out a drive against the commercial establishments allegedly constructed over state and JDA land in Sidhra area. A team of administration along with a large number of Police personnel reached Sidhra and started sealing these establishments. However, the owners of the establishments opposed administration and termed the action as biased. Talking to media persons, the owners of commercial establishments and residential houses said that the administration was not listening to them. "The court has stayed the administration's unofficial eviction drive, but still the administration is not listening to them. We tried to meet Deputy Commissioner Jammu and the concerned Tehsildar, but the authorities refused to accept court's order or consider revenue record", said owner of a restaurant, adding that on basis of administration's verbal order, "We closed operation of our businesses, we are paying salaries to our employees without any work. "These establishments apart from providing employment to hundreds of unemployed youth, were also a source of income for many families, now suddenly the government is making all of them jobless", they said. Meanwhile, due to the resentment shown by the locals, the team of officers returned back without proceeding. |
