Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: Newly appointed Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, RS Pura Col JS Randhawa (Retd) alongwith his team held an outreach program at Arnia. He along with his team listened to grievances of ex-servicemen and their dependents and apprised them about various welfare schemes of UT of J & K and Central Govt. Col JS Randhawa assured the gathering that the Rajya Sainik Board is committed to resolve problems of ESM and their dependents especially those residing in remote and inaccessible border towns. Sub Bir Singh (Retd) during his vote of thanks highlighted that Zila Sainik Welfare Office is presently functioning from the premises of ZSWO, Jammu at Amphalla. ESM felt that the present arrangement of welfare of ESM and their dependent especially old age widows and war widows of RS Pura tehsil is not very neat. ESM are dependent on Station HQ Miran Sahib for CSD, ECHS Polyclinic Satwari Cantt for medical treatment and ZSWO at Amphalla for documentation related to pension, penury grants, children education, Smart CSD card, change of name, date of birth and address in service records and PPO. Few of these formalities require affidavit attested by Magistrate/ Tehsildar of native place. Secondly, CSDs, ECHS polyclinic and ZSWO office Amphalla are away from Jammu- RS Pura main road and requires multiple modes of transport to reach each location. The hardship can be mitigated by early shifting of ZSWO to RS Pura, establishment of ECHS Polyclinic and CSD Counter at RS Pura. Col Randhawa informed the ESM that Brig Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd), Director, Rajya Sainik Board has already approached the UT administration for early allotment of office space at RS Pura. As and when space is allotted the office will shift to RS Pura. The office at RS Pura will drastically reduce hardships faced by ESM and Veer Naris residing in villages along the international border and Line of Control. |
