Nepotism: JU drops topper, selects no. 12 as Assistant Professor
3/18/2021 12:17:19 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 17: The Jammu University has dropped a candidate having highest academic merit with 90 points and selected a blue-eyed candidate, who had scored only 47 points, as Assistant Professor in one of the varsity departments.
Sources told Early Times that the blue-eyed candidate stood at 12th slot in the academic merit, while 11 aspirants had more academic points than the selected person.
“It seems by doing such a gross injustice the Head of the Department (HOD) and the Selection Committee wanted to convey to the highly qualified youth that it can do anything,” said a source.
As per academic merit list published by the Department for the post of Assistant Professor in Scheduled Category (SC), which is in possession of Early Times, the candidate topped the list is .....Kumar, with 90 academic merit points. The candidate has 10 points of publication, 10 points for teaching while 30 points for Ph.D qualification, 7 marks for NET/JRF qualification, 23 marks for Post Graduation and 10 for graduation.
However, the candidate who has got selected has only 47 points which includes 10 points for graduation, 23 points for Post-graduation, 7 points for M.Phil and 7 points for NET/JRF. Most shockingly the selected candidate has no teaching experience, no Ph.D qualification, no publications.
The candidate at second slot.......(a female) had 82.7 points, while the third candidate ....Rani in the list had 79 points, followed by ....Tanoch with 78.3 points. Similarly .....Kumar stood at 5th slot with 75 points, followed by ....Kumar with 70.3 points, followed by .....Kumar with 70 points while at 8th slot is ......Stalin with 66 points,.......Pandit with 64.25 points, followed by ....Kumar with 49 points and at 11th slot is ....Bhagat with 48 points.
All these candidates were rejected by the Selection Committee due to reasons best known to them.
“The Jammu University should issue the final selection lists of all the departments in which selections have been recently made so that the marks given to the candidates in the interview process are known to everyone,” source added.
“The entire interview process in the above mentioned department seems totally sham and muddy and it is 100 percent clear that not merit but favouritism decides everything in this departments of Jammu University”, a candidate said, adding that the interview process was simply an eye-wash and it was still unknown as what was the weightage of the interview.
“Even if the interview was of 50 marks, then the selected candidate should have got 47 out of 50, while the academic merit topper beside others would have been given 1, 2, 5 marks out of 50, which crosses all limits of favouritism in JU, even after the conversion of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory”, the candidates said, and appealed Lieutenant Governor administration to initiate an enquiry over all the selections made in recent past in the Jammu University.
