SRINAGAR, Mar 21: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 158 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 28,547; with one fresh death from Kashmir the total number of casualties in the union territory reached 1,981. Srinagar district reported 88 fresh cases of Corona Virus including 27 travelers followed by Jammu district 22 cases, Baramulla district 19 cases, Budgam district 14 cases, Pulwama district four cases, Anantnag and Samba districts three cases each, Doda district two cases and a case each in Bandipora, Kulgam & Ganderbal districts. A death was reported from Anantnag district. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 158 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 27 from Jammu division and 131 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 28,547. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 58 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 11 from Jammu division and 47 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 28,547 positive cases, 1,290 are active positive, 1, 25,276 have recovered and 1,981 have died; 732 in Jammu division and 1,249 in Kashmir division. Out of 57, 47,468 test results available, 56, 18,921 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 34,252 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 28,851 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,290 in isolation and 1, 21,393 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 80,737 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 28,040 positive cases, 658 active positive, 26,917 recovered, 465 deaths; Baramulla has 8,495 positive cases, 121 active positive, 8,196 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 8,042 positive cases, 92 active positive, 7,830 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,927 positive cases, 35 active positive, 5,800 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,735 positive cases, 18 active positive, 5,620 recovered, 97 deaths. “Anantnag has 5,109 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,997 recovered, 94 deaths; Bandipora has 4,734 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4,660 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,694 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,634 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,759 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,689 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,637 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,569 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,521 positive cases, 218 active positive, 24,924 recovered, 379 deaths; Udhampur has 4,331 positive cases, 11 active positive, 4,263 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,883 positive cases, six active positive, 3,822 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,449 positive cases, nine active positive, 3,376 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,275 positive cases, four active positive, 3,218 recovered, 53 deaths. “Samba has 2,846 positive cases, five active positive, 2,800 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,535 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,138 positive cases, three active positive, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,658 positive cases, eight active positive, 1,634 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 28,547 positive cases in J&K, 12,860 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
