Early Times Report jammu, Mar 21: Although this week of March witnessed worrying trends of Covid cases, authorities have yet not taken strict measures to arrest second wave of the deadly virus. During the last one week, positive cases outnumbered recoveries across the UT and this trend has created fear among genuine people. During the last one week, Covid cases in J&K have witnessed unprecedented surge as numbers of positive patients were swelling. On Sunday 158 patients were tested positive across J&K. 27 positive cases were reported from Jammu division and 131 in Kashmir Valley. Among the fresh cases include 34 travelers and one minor. One fatality from Kashmir Valley also took the fatality count in J&K to 1981, 732 in Jammu and 1249 in Kashmir. Reliable sources said that despite spike in the positive cases, authorities have yet not devised any strategy to control second wave of the virus. Sources said that travellers coming from different parts of the country in general and Punjab in particular were contributing in spreading the virus. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam on Sunday chaired an emergency meeting of senior officers regarding further strengthening of the Covid containment measures in the district in view of the reported resurgence of cases in some parts of J&K. Expressing concern over resurgence of Covid 19 cases, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon strict enforcement of Covid SOPs including compulsory wearing of masks, maintaining social distance, use of sanitizers and sanitization. He said that those found roaming at public places and gatherings without face mask shall be fined and subject to Rapid Antigen Testing in the interest of the community at large. |
