JAMMU, Mar 21: Hailing J&K UT’s budget for fiscal 2021-22, Parneesh Mahajan Convener Department of Training, BJP J&K said that huge funds allocation for tourism and culture will change the contours of this sector in J&K. In a statement issued today, the BJP leader said that increase of Rs.509 crore in the tourism and culture segment has lot of potential to enthuse new life into this sector which saw decline due to coronavirus and other factors on account of abrogation of Article 370 in the last two years. Mahajan said that allocation of about Rs.786 crore this year will augment tourism, which is the mainstay of J&K’s economy. Elaborating the scope of expansion of tourism during the ensuing year, he said that adventure tourism especially water sports, national and international events for tourism promotion, added facilities for Amarnath Yatra, public spaces for leisure along highways, religious tourist circuits, development of heritage sites, promotion of local cinema and theatre, etc can be augmented by utilizing the huge funds segregated for this sector. The senior BJP leader said that the aforesaid allocation of funds is appropriate for giving major thrust to the tourism industry. “From heritage sites to adventure sports J&K has everything and has no competitors in the country as far as tourism is concerned.
