Mehbooba admits PAGD confronts with 'teething problems' | PDP chief again announces not to participate in Assembly elections | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 22: After participating in the District Development Councils (DDCs) elections as constituent of the Peoples' Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said that her party will not participate in Assembly elections until "special status" of J&K is restored. Mehbooba said that elections in J&K were neither a priority of her party nor a solution of vexed Kashmir problem. In an interview with a news-paper, Mehbooba said her struggle for restoration of Article 370 will continue through 'democratic means'. Ironically before DDCs elections Mehbooba had announced not to participate in elections until Article 370 is restored but her party contested the elections but failed to perform on expected lines. Out of 280 seats, PDP won only 27 seats and party's performance in Jammu region was worst as PDP managed to win only one seat. Mehbooba admitted that the much-publicized PAGD is confronting with 'teething problems' but he was hopeful that it will stabilize and problems relating to the conglomeration will be solved. When her attention was drawn towards decision of People's Conference chief Sajjad Lone to quit the PAGD, she said "Whenever different parties come together for a common cause, there are always teething problems. I am sure things will stabilize". |
