Mahila Cong intensifies campaign against price hike | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 30: Intensifying its campaign to mobilize people against anti-poor policies of the BJP led NDA government at the Centre, Pradesh Mahila Congress on Tuesday organized protest against hike in the prices of essential commodities at Sarjoo area of Mahore tehsil of Reasi district. The protest demonstration was organized by block president Parveen Akthar and district president Satya Devi in which women in large number participated. Today’s protest was held on the directions of Pradesh Mahila Congress president and ex-MLA Indu Pawar to mobilize public in general and womenfolk in particular against pro-rich policies of the BJP led dispensation at the Centre. Addressing the agitating workers, Mahila Congress leaders exhorted women to come on the streets to oppose anti-poor policies being pursued by the BJP government just to fulfill interests of corporate houses. “BJP led NDA government is insensitive to problems being faced by an ordinary citizen in day to day life. Government is busy in raising prices and imposing taxes on the commoners”, they regretted but assured the people that under such situation Congress party is committed to raise the voice of a common man by way of holding protest and demonstrations against the policies of the government which is a democratic way of peaceful protests. Mahila Congress leaders informed the gathering that Congress has already launched nationwide agitation against pro-rich policies of the BJP led government. She assured that on-going campaign would be intensified in the days to come so as to put pressure on the government to give some relief to the people. They further appealed to the Prime Minister Narinder Modi to provide relief to common man by announcing a cut in the rising prices of petrol, diesel and essential goods. |
