SRINAGAR, Apr 11: The re-emergence of COVID-19 cases in high number in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has led to a tremendous dip in the recovery rate with the same dipping to 93.23 percent even though the same had almost reached 98 percent not long back. The union territory reported 915 new cases of virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 38,390. A five more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours in the Kashmir valley the death toll reached 2,034. Srinagar district reported 362 fresh cases including 81 travelers followed by Jammu district 192 cases, Baramulla district 111 cases, Reasi district 48 cases including 30 travelers, Kupwara district 38 cases, Budgam district 27 cases, Anantnag district 25 cases, Pulwama and Kulgam districts 15 cases each, Shopian district 14 cases, Bandipora district 12 cases, Kathua and Samba districts 11 cases each, Ganderbal, Doda and Poonch districts eight cases each, Rajouri district four cases and Udhampur & Ramban districts three cases each. While three deaths were reported from Srinagar a death each came to the fore from Budgam and Anantnag districts. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 915 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 288 from Jammu division and 627 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 38,390. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 330 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 57 from Jammu division and 273 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 38,390 positive cases, 7,335 are active positive, 1, 29,021 have recovered and 2,034 have died; 752 in Jammu division and 1,282 in Kashmir division. Out of 65, 02,828 test results available, 63, 64,438 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 16, 10,579 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 59,037 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,335 in isolation and 1, 31,085 in home surveillance. Besides, 14, 11,088 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 31,911 positive cases, 2,709 active positive, 28,722 recovered, 480 deaths; Baramulla has 9,744 positive cases, 837 active positive, 8,724 recovered, 183 deaths; Budgam has 8,605 positive cases, 382 active positive, 8,100 recovered, 123 deaths; Pulwama has 6,109 positive cases, 175 active positive, 5,842 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 6,011 positive cases, 190 active positive, 5,723 recovered, 98 deaths. “Anantnag has 5,385 positive cases, 197 active positive, 5,090 recovered, 98 deaths; Bandipora has 4,887 positive cases, 127 active positive, 4,697 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,798 positive cases, 80 active positive, 4,669 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 3,021 positive cases, 235 active positive, 2,730 recovered, 56 deaths and Shopian has 2,716 positive cases, 71 active positive, 2,605 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 27,217 positive cases, 1,430 active positive, 25,396 recovered, 391 deaths; Udhampur has 4,591 positive cases, 225 active positive, 4,308 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,952 positive cases, 62 active positive, 3,834 recovered, 56 deaths; Kathua has 3,506 positive cases, 113 active positive, 3,340 recovered, 53 deaths; Doda has 3,501 positive cases, 45 active positive, 3,392 recovered, 64 deaths. “Samba has 2,939 positive cases, 78 active positive, 2,818 recovered, 43 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,787 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,734 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,583 positive cases, 43 active positive, 2,514 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,178 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,139 recovered, 23 deaths and Reasi has 1,949 positive cases, 289 active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 38,390 positive cases, 14,817 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
