LG again directs officers to hoist national flag on government buildings

jammu, Apr 11: Even as politicians are exchanging barbs over the decision of the government to hoist the national flag at all government buildings, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday again directed all officers to ensure hoisting of Tricolour within a stipulated time.
While chairing meeting of all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Kashmir Valley, the Lt Governor reviewed the activities under "Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav" and asked the DCs to identify people from their districts who have played an important role in the Indian freedom struggle and in safeguarding the territorial integrity of J&K, and felicitate them in the ongoing celebrations.
Sinha again directed the officers to ensure the hoisting of the National flag on all government buildings and establishments under their jurisdiction following proper protocols and laid down procedures.
In order to receive a first-hand appraisal of the Administration's response towards addressing the issues of public, besides ensuring transparency & accountability in the governance system, the Lieutenant Governor today chaired a meeting of all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division here at Raj Bhavan.
The Lt Governor observed that officers are the face of administration and exhorted them to discharge their duties with utmost sensitivity and responsibility, and put in best efforts to mitigate the problems of the people.
He directed them to hold grievance redressal interaction with people at least three days a week in their respective offices to redress genuine grievances at the earliest.
o On March 29, the government had issued an order to hoist the national flag on all government buildings in the next 15 days. Divisional Commissioner Jammu had asked all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Head of Departments (HoD) to implement hoist National flag on all the government buildings, within the next 15 days.
o On April 7, Mehbooba Mufti termed this decision as "insecurity" of the administration.
