Rajouri, Apr 11: It might sound bizarre but it is fact that Rajouri district has got distinction in encroachment of state land due to nexus between land mafia-revenue officials-politicians due to which thousands of kanals of land has gone into the hands of encroachers.
But some ray of hope has also arisen within the general public ever since the new DDC Rajouri has taken over the charge of the district and has started action against encroachment by launching anti- encroachment drives.
It has been seen in past that many revenue officials didn’t honor the order of their superiors regarding cancellation of illegal mutations. In one such case, which was highlighted by NGOs that the order of Revenue Court of ADC Rajouri was set-aside regarding mutation of land near police station Thanna Mandi which was illegally mutated in the name of a person.
“There is an immediate need to start anti encroachment drives for retrieval of encroached land at Thanna Mandi Rajouri which has been occupied illegally by land mafia and some corrupt officials who are using delay tactics to implement government orders for removing illegal encroachment for their vested interests’ alleged by activists of NGO.
Official sources said that it is very unfortunate that despite order by ADC since one year ago regarding cancellation of illegal mutation under Vide No 131 ADCR/19/132/ADCR/8 yet it has not been implemented till date.
It has official data around 652 persons encroached 3758 kanals Govt land in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu has revealed that 652 people have encroached 3758 kanals of Government land in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu districts. Even as the details of all the tehsils have not been disclosed in the revenue details, the official figures claim that 102 people have encroached 684 kanals of State land, though recorded in revenue records, in village Degwar Maldayalian in tehsil Haveli of Poonch district.
Similarly, 96 people have encroached 714 kanals of State land in Rajouri district’s Thanamandi Muncipality Tehsil villages like Rajdhjani, Banghai, Kote, Plangerh, Shahdera, Darra, Nelli, Dhoke, Bhatteli, Dodasan Pain, Allal, Thanna, Karyote, Khanyalkote, Mangota, Behrote, Kote, Khablan, Palgerh, Saimsmat, Dodasan Pain and Nerojal.
They further claimed that 54 people have encroached 496 kanals of government land in Manjakote of Rajouri district. This land has also been recorded in revenue papers. In Jorian area in Jammu district, 400 people have encroached 1864 kanals of State land.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan has reportedly been acting tough against the state land encroachers and those who had been under illegal occupation of government buildings for years, which has sent a strong message among the public of strict action against such scrupulous elements. Sources said that incumbent DDC Rajouri had taken action in this connection through ACR and sent a letter to SDM Thannamandi to take necessary action.
ADC Rajouri when contacted said that the order issued from his office has been stayed due to which department could not take action.
