Rapid Antigen tests for Covid-19 conducted at Ware House | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 20: Taking extra precautions amid steep rise in covid-19 cases, Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market Jammu with the help of District Administration and Health Department Jammu on Tuesday conducted rapid antigen tests for COVID-19 at warehouse. On the request of Deepak Gupta, President Traders Federation administration deputed a special team in the warehouse. Medical team tested 92 workers and employees of Ware House and four of them tested Covid-19 positive. Deepak Gupta on this occasion said that the situation is getting worse day by day and in Jammu around 1500 cases are reported on a daily basis. Considering the situation, Federation requested the district administration to conduct this camp. Deepak Gupta said that this new COVID strain is said to be 70 percent more transmissible from the novel coronavirus disease, triggering fear and panic amongst the society and as a precautionary measure Federation once again conducted this camp. “We also sanitize our market this evening and this will be done on a daily basis,” he said. Deepak Gupta said that after LG Manoj Sinha’s appeal to Market Associations to voluntarily stagger schedules to reduce crowds, the Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market was the first to curtail its markets working hours from 9 am to 6 pm. “Now, if the administration orders only 50% shops to be open on an alternate basis through a rotation system, it will not be possible for us to maintain the supply of essential commodities. There are around 300 shops in this grain mandi and everyone plays a vital role in maintaining supply chain on a daily basis. We suggest rather implementing weekend lockdown for markets. It will not affect the essential supply line and will also be helpful to break the covid-19 chain,” he emphasized. |
