Night curfew extended to all J&K districts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: In the wake of the rising Covid-19 cases, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended night curfew to urban areas of all districts in order contain spread of the viral infection. Prior to this, the night curfew was applicable to only eight districts in J&K. The curfew will remain enforced from 10pm to 6am. The night curfew has now been extended to all areas under municipal and urban local body limits. In a series of tweets, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor (L-G), J&K said the night curfew is being extended to all municipal/urban local bodies of 20 districts in J&K. As per the new measures, only 50 per cent shops in market complexes/bazaars/malls within the limits of municipal/urban local bodies will be allowed to remain open on an alternate basis through a rotation system. "Public transport (matadors/mini-buses/buses etc.) in J&K shall be permitted to ply only at 50 per cent of its (vehicle's) authorised seating capacity. The district superintendents of police (DSP) shall ensure compliance to this effect," the L-G's office said. The L-G has also directed all district magistrates to devise a mechanism to implement these measures, preferably in consultation with local market associations. Meanwhile, the J&K government also said that the Amarnath Yatra for this year is being planned. It said like last year, appropriate decisions would be taken about it. The government said it is making preparation for the yatra, and added that close to 30,000 service providers involved in the yatra will be vaccinated against Covid-19. |
