4/21/2021 12:28:45 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

KISHTWAR, Apr 20: Contractors Association of District Kishtwar (CADK) has strongly criticized the management of L&T company of Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project for ignoring the local contractors.
Farooq Siddiqui District President, Contractors Association Kishtwar today visited the L&T company office of Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project and threatened of dire consequences in case they will not withdraw allotment of contract provided to non-local contractors.
Siddiqui said that the management of L&T company has provided a contract of execution of plate form for installation of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) with total quantity of 4 Lac C/meter to a selected non local contractor which has caused a brewing resentment among the contractors community.
He said that more than 40 local contractors could be adjusted in case the said construction works is divided between the local contractors of District Kishtwar.
Siddiqui also said that the management of L&T company of Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project has also hired Dumpers and other machineries from the said non local contractor whereas these kind of vehicles and machineries can easily be hired from local transportors so that they could also earn their livelihood besides local drivers and helpers could also get employment opportunity but it is a matter of great concern that the management is providing undue benefits to a selected non local contractor which clearly indicates that the management of L &T is hand in glove with the said non local contractor.
He has urged upon the Managing Director Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) to terminate the contract of L&T company as they are violating the agreement signed between the L&T and CVPPL as they have to provide first priority to local contractors which is also envisaged in the agreement.
