Jammu, Apr 24: Department of Sociology, GDC R.S.Pura under aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav organized an online guest lecture to commemorate the National Panchayati Raj Day on 24th April 2021, under the guidance of the worthy Principal of the College Dr. Gurdev Singh Rakwal.
The programme was organized and conducted by Prof. Jai Mala Thakur, Head Department of Sociology. In her welcome address she talked about the significance of Panchayati Raj Institution and also highlighted the role of Panchayat Raj Institutions in rural development.
The resource person of this lecture was Ms. Anjana Sudan, KAS (Block Development Officer). Anjana Sudan said that the Panchayati Raj Institutions play a major role in the socio and economic development of people at gross root level.
She also highlighted the main objectives of Panchayat system in India is to strengthen the base of democracy at the gross root level, to increase democratic participation, to better articulate needs and priorties and to ensure a more efficient use of local resources along with greater accountability and transparency. |
