EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Apr 24: Police under the supervision of SSP Pooch, Dr Vinod Kumar has exposed a nexus in Mandi where police seized a huge quantity of steel at a naka. Although an FIR number 45, dated 23 April 2021, has been lodged at Police Station Mandi under relevant sections of law against culprits and has arrested two persons into the matter but it seems that there are some high level officials of the Rural Development Department (RDD) involved in the nexus. Several people from Mandi have appreciated this step of police and said, “This nexus was continuing since long and police was not taking any action, and recently when new SSP came and start to expose anti-social elements and exposed these scams.”
Several locals alleged that almost every RDD official has a habit to ask people “Saria, Cement Khareed Kar Laga Lo, Department Ke Pass Nahin Aata.” Such statements of the RDD officials reflect that something is definitely fishy in their activities, said people.
Referring to the matter Javid Reshi said, “After very long time we are seeing good combination of administrative officers including DC, SSP and others.”
He hails and appreciated the heroic steps taken by SSP Poonch and also appreciated team work of SHO Police Station Mandi Bashir Kohli. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Development Poonch, Rajesh Lakhan has issued suspension order of Javed Iqbal (Storekeeper) under number ACDP/2021-22/866-873 and further assured for strict action into the matter. Many locals from Mandi, Loran including Wali Mohd Sheikh Loran, Ajaz Ahmed Sawjian and others have appealed to Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inderjeet Singh to investigate this matter and take strict action against officials involved in discrepancies and further appealed to SSP Poonch Dr Vinod Kumar to keep a strict vigil on other anti-social and anti-public elements. They further seek investigation of the office records, sanctioned material for three years through ACB and Crime Branch.
