Jammu, Apr 24: Continuing his endeavour to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation today alongwith Kuldeep Singh Chib, Chairman of Social Justice Standing Committee/Councillor of ward no. 63 conducted an extensive tour of Keren, Thathar and other the various localities of the ward and review the ongoing development works in terms of restoration of traditional water bodies/ponds situated at upper Thather and Lower Thathar Mohalla of the said ward. Ashwani Kumar, Executive Engineer, Deep Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer, Rakesh Kumar Junior Engineer and other supervisory staff of Division-III as well as prominent inhabitants of the ward were also accompanied the Mayor during the tour. Mayor was apprised by the executive agencies that an amount of rupees sixteen lac and twenty lac has been released for thoroughly cleaning, construction of boundary walls and other allied works for restoration of these ponds. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that JMC has already taken up the job for rejuvenation of all the traditional water bodies in various parts of the city with the active support of the locals by removing illegal encroachments if any so that the citizens can take full benefit of our natural sources of water and told that the water collected especially during rainy season in the ponds will also help in rising/improving the already down water level and cater demands of the locals and stressed to imbibe a sense of responsibility among the general public towards the water bodies. He directed the concerned engineering wing to complete this vital development work by applying best quality & durable construction material and upto the satisfaction of locals within the stipulated time frame, also install beautiful benches at the suitable sites around the ponds, plant seasonal saplings for eco friendly atmosphere, do not throw garbage, filth, polythenes in & around these traditional water bodies so that the aim of “Swacch Bharat Mission” can be achieved successfully. |
