People fully adhered Corona curfew in Kishtwar, markets wear deserted look | | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, Apr 25: Like other parts of the Union Territory of J&K, the Corona curfew was also implemented in the entire Kishtwar district from 8 pm on Saturday while people fully adhered the curfew restrictions. In Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma along with SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Butt with senior officials of the administration led at front to ensure the implementation of the curfew on ground. The officials also held a march in different areas of Kishtwar town to ensure that the curfew gets implemented on ground. Following the announcement of the government to implement weekend lockdown to ensure the break in chain of virus spread, people in Kishtwar District also fully adhered to the order issued by the State Disaster Management and preferred to stay inside homes as a result of which the markets in Kishtwar District wore a deserted look today. Only a few people were seen walking on the main road with the thin presence of police and other security forces. “People understand the gravity of the situation and understand that the decision of implementing corona curfew is necessary,” said a police official, adding that people are cooperating. It will be an easy task for us to concentrate on other important works besides will also protect the security and police personnel from fatigue as there is hardly any need to exhibit thick presence on ground to implement the orders. The officials said that they are hopeful that people will continue to cooperate in a similar way the way they cooperated today. Meanwhile, DC Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma told the Early Times that already fixed marriage functions and other religious functions like Mundan and Yatras will be allowed as per the protocol, adding that marriage cards will be treated as curfew passes. He said that front line works and medical shops will be allowed to function during the lockdown. He said that the situation is under control and all necessary arrangements are in place to tackle the crisis. “The situation is under control in Kishtwar District as compared to other parts of the UT. We have to join hands to prevent the situation from getting out of control. Let me request the people to follow SOPs and other guidelines,” said DC Kishtwar. |
