RAMBAN, Apr 29: Taking swift action on the complaints of overloading and overcharging by the commuters, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Ramban, Shafqat Majid, today booked several drivers for violation of rules and seized three vehicles on Ramban to Banihal, Ramban to Khari and other routes. Many passenger vehicles were found not plying at half of authorized seating capacity as per Covid guidelines.
The enforcement team realized a fine of Rs. 21500 from violators for overloading, overcharging and violation for various extant rules of Motor Vehicles Act.
The enforcement team urged the private transporters to stick to 50% restriction on authorized seating capacity to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection.
The ARTO directed the drivers and conductors to get themselves tested frequently to avoid Covid infection and do not allow people in their vehicles without wearing face masks.
