SRINAGAR, Apr 29: The death toll due to COVID-19 in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 2,253 after 26 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours with record 3,474 fresh cases being reported during the same period of time. Srinagar district reported 1017 cases followed by Jammu district 489 cases, Baramulla district 429 cases, Budgam district 268 cases, Anantnag district 228 cases, Kulgam district 181 cases, Pulwama district 137 cases, Udhampur district 128 cases, Rajouri district 111 cases, Samba district 77 cases, Kupwara district 71 cases, Kathua district 58 cases, Ganderbal district 57 cases, Bandipora district 51 cases, Doda district 48 cases, Reasi district 43 cases, Poonch district 32 cases, Kishtwar district 21 cases, Ramban district 17 cases and Shopian district 11 cases. Jammu district reported six fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by three deaths each in Srinagar and Samba districts, two deaths each in Pulwama, Kulgam, Udhampur and Kathua districts and a death each in Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Doda, Poonch & Ramban districts. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,474 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,024 from Jammu division and 2,450 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 72,551. Also 26 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 17 from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir division. Moreover, 1617 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 710 from Jammu division and 907 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 72,551 positive cases, 26,144 are active positive, 1, 44,154 have recovered and 2,253 have died; 872 in Jammu division and 1,381 in Kashmir division. Out of 72, 22,471 test results available, 70, 49,920 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 17, 97,502 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 95,074 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 26,144 in isolation and 1, 21,457 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 52,574 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 42,506 positive cases, 7,952 active positive, 34,027 recovered, 527 deaths; Baramulla has 12,643 positive cases, 2,209 active positive, 10,237 recovered, 197 deaths; Budgam has 10,461 positive cases, 1,329 active positive, 9,002 recovered, 130 deaths; Pulwama has 7,053 positive cases, 838 active positive, 6,114 recovered, 101 deaths; Kupwara has 6,861 positive cases, 787 active positive, 5,973 recovered, 101 deaths. “Anantnag district has 6,760 positive cases, 1,105 active positive, 5,547 recovered, 108 deaths; Bandipora has 5,404 positive cases, 365 active positive, 4,975 recovered, 64 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,365 positive cases, 420 active positive, 4,896 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 4,191 positive cases, 1,088 active positive, 3,041 recovered, 62 deaths and Shopian has 2,955 positive cases, 236 active positive, 2,677 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 34,124 positive cases, 5,922 active positive, 27,737 recovered, 465 deaths; Udhampur has 5,927 positive cases, 504 active positive, 5,358 recovered, 65 deaths; Rajouri has 4,744 positive cases, 765 active positive, 3,915 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 4,437 positive cases, 459 active positive, 3,916 recovered, 62 deaths; Doda has 3,767 positive cases, 239 active positive, 3,462 recovered, 66 deaths. “Samba has 3,559 positive cases, 640 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 52 deaths; Reasi has 3,382 positive cases, 638 active positive, 2,726 recovered, 18 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,946 positive cases, 111 active positive, 2,813 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,914 positive cases, 302 active positive, 2,578 recovered, 34 deaths and Ramban has 2,552 positive cases, 235 active positive, 2,293 recovered, 24 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 72,551 positive cases in J&K, 19,292 have been reported as travelers.The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
