Early Times Report

Kathua, Apr 29: The female staff members engaged at Toll Plaza Lakhanpur have alleged harassment at the hands of a senior staff member and have appealed to the Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua to take action against the accused.
A written complaint has been lodged with the police following which the Additional Superintendent of Police Kathua has initiated an enquiry into the matter while the accused has reportedly at large.
In the written complaint it has been claimed that they were employees of Shiva Corporation Jaipur, which has taken the tenders of Lakhanpur as well as Thandi Khui toll plaza. “We female staff members are working on Lakhanpur toll plaza but are very upset as one person Jaspal Singh has been harassing us. In an inebriated condition the accused abused us and asked for making an affair with him”, the complaint reads, adding that the accused threatened them to fire from the company if they (female staff) refused to enter into an affair.
The accused is also a resident of Ganga Nagar Rajasthan and several cases are also registered against him in Rajasthan also, the female staff alleged in the complaint. They also alleged that the accused had an affair with a female staff member. “The accused was asking that female staff to force other females to make an affair with him”, they alleged, adding that they had lodged a complaint against him with the head of the company but no action was taken against him.
The female staff members have claimed that they belonged to poor families and have been repeatedly harassed.
“When the accused was posted at Thandi Khui toll plaza he along with another person (Babu Ram) had forced an female employee to enter into physical relations with them but the victim had complaint with the company, after which Babu Ram was fired but no action was taken against Jaspal Singh and he was shifted to Lakhanpur toll plaza”, the complaint reads.
The female staff members have demanded action against the accused. Sources said that the accused has fled from the toll post with active connivance of some police personnel as they were aware of the matter and entered into a deal with the accused.
Speaking to Early Times, Additional SP Kathua Ramnesh Gupta said that he has received a written complaint and initiated the investigation but so far FIR has not been registered. He further said that firstly the statements of the female staff would be taken after which an FIR would be registered and action would be taken against the accused.
