JAMMU, May 2: Department of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) organized a webinar on the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru of Sikhs, commemorating his 400th birth anniversary dedicated to the theme “Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”. The objective of the lecture was to educate the students about the supreme sacrifice of Guruji and his faith to save humanity. About 100 students and teaching faculty from Constituent Colleges and PGI Schools of CLUJ participated in the event. Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu inaugurated the event and lauded the efforts of the Department of Students Welfare for conducting a webinar on the life of Guruji who was an epitome of sacrifice and religious equality. He further said that it was important to make the younger generation understand these lessons and contributions. Pradeep Dutta, Senior Editor, Times Now Channel-a versatile journalist, noted poet and writer known for his bold and crisp reporting was the key note speaker at the event. He stressed that the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur are of immense significance even in contemporary times when the world is grappling with the pandemic as they fortify our faith in human nature and their problems. He reiterated that Gurujis martyrdom is unparalleled in history as it instilled faith in those sections of society which were victimised and gave them courage to fight against oppression. Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ formally welcomed the participants and exhorted that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sought his life in creating a society which could walk on the path of righteousness and he attained martyrdom for this cause of dharma. Afterward, there was an interactive session at the end wherein students raised their queries. Prof Bhopinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, CLUJ, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Controller Examinations, Principals of constituent colleges, Prof Sarita Naggari, Prof Sunil Uppal, Prof Ranjit Jamwal, and Coordinators also attended the event. The programme was coordinated by Dr Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean, Students Welfare, CLUJ and also gave a formal vote of thanks. Dr Kuldeep Raina and Dr Revika Arora, Cultural Coordinators, CLUJ and Assistant Deans, Dr Javed, Dr Maansi Sharma, Prof Sudesh Kumar, and Prof Shamim Rather were present on the occasion. |
