Kashmir continues to violate Covid-19 norms, Jammu behaves disciplined
5/2/2021 11:24:05 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Apr 2: Much like the public response to first wave of Covid, people of Kashmir continue to violate norms whereas Jammu is yet again behaving in a discipline manner and showing way to humanity in such testing times.
This is not any hearsay but what the official documents reveal. Even as a fresh lockdown was announced from April 29 to May 3, on the very first day Kashmir witnessed shocking level of violations making the government act tough against offenders. Over 100 cases were registered by police and over 100 arrested on day one of the lockdown alone. “In view of the record surge in daily cases across the Kashmir Valley, Police also enhanced the efforts to implement the Covid-19 guidelines/SOPs/restrictions strictly throughout the valley. During last 24hrs, Police has arrested 118 persons, lodged 103 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹90,610/- from 730 people for violating the guidelines/rules throughout Kashmir valley,” police documents revealed.
“Besides, four vehicles were also seized for violating guidelines/restrictions. The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley,” the documents reveal.
Officials said the community members in Kashmir are being regularly “requested to cooperate with the police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/guidelines/protocols for the safety of the people.”
Jammu, on the other hand, has been behaving responsibly as no such action was reported from the region on day one. It is pertinent to mention that the summer capital of Srinagar has been reporting the highest number of cases for the last few days making the authorities to take strict action.
During the first wave also, in 2020 Kashmir had a seen a surge in the number of cases as the people were often accused of breaking the norms and the standard operation protocols. That time also lockdown violations were reported mainly from Kashmir.
But people of Jammu have been adhering to the lockdown violations in the larger interest of the society.
Interestingly this time, one association of pharma companies in Jammu voluntarily appealed the government to opt for lockdown in the larger interest of saving human lives even if it meant financial losses for the business community. That is how Jammu shows the way to humanity!
