EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 2: As the party has not got any opportunity to celebrate since 2014, J&K Congress today ‘celebrated’ defeat of BJP in West Bengal where Congress has, till filing of this report, has got a ‘Big Zero’. In the 2016 assembly elections, Congress, after entering into an alliance with the Left parties, had won 44 seats. Ironically Congress’ tally has reduced from 44 to Zero but party leaders are celebrating this victory. Today’s election results were a big setback to Congress because the party was overconfident of getting a majority in Assam as well as in Kerala from where the party’s former president Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha member. Hoping that party will form the government, Congress had already shifted all its contesting candidates to party-ruled Chhatisgarh and Rajasthan. |
